WELCOME to the website of the Braithwell, Micklebring and Clifton History and Heritage Group

Our aim is to collect and pass on to future generations records of past and present life in these three South Yorkshire villages. We hope that you will enjoy exploring this developing taster of our growing archive of memories, photographs and artefacts, donated by friends of the villages. We are constantly working on updating the site.

Using the Website: Articles and memories have been contributed by previous and present residents of the three villages. These have been organised under the headings on the blue bar; just Click on a topic and a menu will drop down. Some subjects have several contributions and others are ‘work in progress’. You can explore the Archives by clicking on the topics at the top of the page.

The Oral archive is very special as you can hear people you may recognise speaking of their lives in Braithwell, Micklebring or Clifton.

Please contact us if you have memories, information or queries that could help us to construct a picture of this fascinating corner of Yorkshire. WE WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU – We can update, change or add anything to the website that you wish to say… so please go ahead and email us:

History & Heritage Group

We have moved our meeting place and archive storage to the Masters House, Braithwell from the Ruddle Centre. This location is now convenient for those who wish to access it.

We have had a decline in group members since the Covid period and are hoping to get back on track with fundraising, and having village history walks and events in the future.
